Special Projects
The City of Easton is coordinating several special projects in 2025. Please find highlights below of each one with more updates to come as other projects get underway.
City Park Improvements

Several city parks and pocket parks are receiving improvement this year, most of which are currently underway and are slated to be completed by end of summer, weather permitting:
- Vanderveer Park: Upgrades included a double swing set and multi-piece play structure, a natural play area with stepping posts, tunnels, boulders, a pavilion, new trees, and an ADA-compliant paved toddler bicycle path. NOTE: THIS PROJECT IS NOW COMPLETED.
- Centennial Park: Improvements include new swings and playground, a natural play area, misting poles for the summer months, a new pavilion, and an ADA-compliant toddler path. NOTE: THIS PROJECT IS NOW UNDERWAY.
- Scott Park - the addition of a dog park/run and new pathway next to the playground on Larry Holmes Drive.
- 7th St. Park - will receive a new path paved around a new swing slider and the existing Honey Locust Tree, accompanied by new plantings and a decorative boulder wall.
- Jackson Street Park - will receive a new path connecting to Vine Street, a new pavilion, and a swing set installed in the south side of the lot, and many new shrubs and bushes.
- Raspberry Street Park - details to be announced at a later time.
Easton Iron & Metal - 1100 Bushkill Drive (14 acres over two parcels)
The Easton Redevelopment Authority purchased the former Easton Iron and Metal facility site in late 2019. The city, thru a request for proposal, identified VM Development Group as its preferred developer. An agreement of sale was executed in October 2024 between the City and VM.
The project will include mixed-use on the north and south sides of Bushkill Drive. A public park linking to the Karl Stirner Arts trail is also planned for the south side. The project is expect to yield approximately 200 residential until and 10,000 square feet of commercial space. The total project cost is over $50 million.
Current status - the City is working with VM and various partners including Northampton County, the PA Department of Environmental Protection, and the U.S. Environmental Protection agency to finalize and fund a remediation strategy.
Cattell Street Pedestrian Safety Improvements
The city has completed pedestrian safety improvements along Cattell Street including curb bump outs, additional street lighting, and rectangular rapid flashing beacons at the intersections of College Ave. & McCartney Street, Cattell Street & Clinton Terrace, Cattell Street & March Street, and Cattell Street & High Street.
The next phase of improvements will feature mid-block improvements that will connect the new corners from Clinton Terrace to High Street, which will include new sidewalks, decorative streetlights, and new street trees.
